Eurovision on üks kõige populaarsematest kultuurilistest televisiooni saadestest maailmas. Arvamused on, et saade on kogunud üle 100 millioni kuni 600 millioni vaatajaid viimaste aastate jooksul. Võistlus avati 1956 aastal nimega "Eurovision Grand Prix" Luganos, Šveitsis. Seitse riiki võtsid osa (Šveits võitis). Ajaga nimi muutus Le Grand-Prix Eurovision de la Chanson Européenne", lõpuks jäi lihtsalt Eurovision Song Contest.
Some famous Eurovision winners are:
ABBA
- won Eurovision in 1974 with their hit "Waterloo". They tried the year before with "Ring, Ring" but didn't get through the Swedish finals.
KATRINA AND THE WAVES (UK)
- won in 1997 with one of their hits "Love shine a light"; the release of their other hit "Walking on Sunshine" celebrates 25 years.
CELINE DION
- won for Switzerland in 1988 with "Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi" (Don't Leave without Me). She also recorded a German version of it called "Hand in Hand".
