Kui oleks ainult aega rohkem!

Kirju koer- kerge, kiire laste koostöö
Eesti telemaastik on nagu kirju koer.Teate küll, see eesti küpsistest tehtud pruun värviliste marmelaadi tükkidega piklik maiustus. Variante on mitu.

Kirju koer suurtele Nami Nami kogust
400 g heledaid küpsiseid
1 dl heledaid rosinaid
50 g kreeka pähkli tuumi
150 g tükkmarmelaadi
250 g võid
2 sl kakaopulbrit 2 dl suhkruga kondenspiima

Spotted Dog, our method, adapted
400 g digestive cookies or plain tea biscuits, crushed (14 ounce package). Kids love this part!
100 g golden raisins
50 g walnuts, other options are cashews, peanuts (can be skipped, but gives texture)
150 g dried fruit, we used dried pineapples and mango from an oriental store; also try gummy bears or worms
250 g melted butter
50 g Fry's Cocoa powder, the best! Or, try semi-sweet chocolate chips
200 ml sweetened condensed milk or vanilla; Bird's Custard is also interesting
For adults, Estonians add brandy - we added Redbreast, a 12 year old Irish whiskey

The consistency is similar to the wafer crumb-based layer of a Nanaimo bar- which originated - of course - in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Read the story here. on the City of Nanaimo's website!

Try if for yourself: add a layer of custard (½ cup unsalted butter, 2 Tbsp. and 2 Tsp. cream, 2 Tbsp. vanilla custard powder, 2 cups icing sugar), top it with a chocolate cream layer, would this not make an amazing Estonian - Canadian desert? But then what would you call it?

Cookbook suggestions:
Karin Annus Karner's "Estonian Tastes and Traditions" has North American measurements; Eesti Ajakirjade Kirjasutse "Eesti Köök, Estonian Cooking" has clear instructions in both languages.

Tegelikult ma ei kaldunudki teemast kõrvale, sest nüüd on võimalus maiustada ja ja eesti saateid vaadata koos lastega, mehega, perega, sõpradega.
