Canada Day - mida teha?

1. juuli on Kanada sünnipäev! Alexander Muir kirjutas selle laulu Kanada provintside liitumisel aastal 1867. ja seda lauldi mitteametlikult hümnina mitu aastat. Siin on hümni jutt.

"O Canada" on Kanada hümn, mida Quebeci Lieutenant Governor Théodore Robitalle volitas 1880. jaanipäeva peoks. Calixa Lavallée kirjutas muusika Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier luuletusele, mida tõlgiti alles inglis keelde 1906. Robert Stanley Weir kirjutas sama viisile 1908. uue luuletuse inglis keeles; seda uuendati paar korda, viimati 1980. Prantsus keele sõnad on samad. "O Canada" on lauldud hümnina alates 1939. aga kinnitati kuninganna poolt 1. juuli 1980.
